player. 44. . Defensive Tackle. Mississippi State. Jeffery Simmons. 14

The Atlanta Falcons were another one of those NFC teams that really disappointed during the 2018 NFL season, as they didn’t even make the playoffs. Only two years removed from holding a seemingly insurmountable lead in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots, the Falcons will be starting over this offseason, as they fired a bunch of members of their coaching staff.

While they have some question marks on both sides of the ball, the team does have an immediate need on the interior of their defense. With Grady Jarrett expected to hit free agency,  they may want to go with a younger, cheaper option at defensive tackle, and Jeffery Simmons from Mississippi State is one of the best in this draft class at the position.

Simmons is a guy who could right in and start for the Falcons, who still have some of the more explosive players on the offensive side of the ball coming back. Atlanta also has some elite talent off the edge in guys like Takk McKinley and Vic Beasley, so adding to the interior makes a lot of sense at No. 14.

Atlanta is going to be right back in the thick of things next season, as they still have a solid quarterback in Matt Ryan, and arguably the best wideout in the conference in Julio Jones. Dan Quinn will likely head into 2019 on the hot seat, and it will be interesting to see what he can do after a sub-par 2018 campaign.
