High Value C

Players costing $6,667 or under

Enes Kanter (vs HOU – $6,200): Needs 27.7 fantasy points. I don’t know what to make of Kanter because his minutes are not guaranteed and he’s reportedly out of the rotation. But the Knicks are getting blown out and so Kanter is playing? The Rockets have big frontcourt issues and while Kanter can’t hang defensively, he can hurt them with his rebounding and scoring. But that’s assuming he gets minutes. Diagnosis: High risk because minutes are not guaranteed but high reward if he does get minutes.

Jahlil Okafor (vs DET – $5,500): Needs 24.6 fantasy points. Okafor had 41 fantasy points against the Grizzlies on Jan. 21. He’s in the starting lineup and it looks like he’s going to remain in that role while Davis is injured, which could be a while. I’d like to see Okafor prove a bit more because we’ve seen these big games from him and then we’ve seen him disappear for pretty much the rest of the season. But the minutes will be there, as will the opportunities. Diagnosis: Unproven at the moment but great circumstances and a high ceiling.

Ante Zizic (at BOS – $5,400): Needs 24.1 fantasy points. Zizic is now the only guy in the Cavaliers frontcourt so he’s the only guy getting those points and rebounds. He’s in the starting lineup and getting plenty of minutes. And someone has to get points and rebounds for the Cavaliers in their frontcourt. This could be a blowout but Zizic will get solid minutes in the blowout and even in blowouts, the team on the other side has to do something. And he’s at a good salary. Diagnosis: Fairly reliable with a decent ceiling.
