2019 NBA Mock Draft: There’s movement in the top 5
No one in history has put up as many points and blocks as Bol per game in addition to his sterling 52 percent 3-point percentage. Bol is the closest thing to a unicorn big man this draft has and certainly possesses the talent to be a lottery lock. But he is no such thing as a result of his health.
Bol underwent foot surgery earlier this month and will miss the remainder of Oregon’s season. This is a “you have to see him to believe him” type of prospect and the reality is most NBA talent evaluators just won’t be able to see him live before the draft. Unless they saw Oregon during non-conference play or trust the tape, it will be tough to pull the trigger on Bol. He would be unwise to work out for teams or attend the NBA Draft combine in May at risk of further injury.
Teams will have to rely on his limited college tape and meeting and speaking with him during the pre-draft process to make their decision.
While Miami already has an exciting young talent in the frontcourt in Bam Adebayo, adding Bol would form a hyperathletic modern big man duo in South Beach.
