Players costing $6,667 or under

Jerryd Bayless (at UTA – $4,000): Needs 17.2 fantasy points. I’m not sure the Timberwolves are going to have any guards in this game. So as long as Bayless plays, you can take him with confidence, especially if they don’t have Rose, Teague or Jones. Someone has to get those points and assists for the Timberwolves and Bayless is at a good enough salary to where he can greatly overachieve. Diagnosis: High ceiling and great circumstances.

Dennis Smith Jr (vs DET – $5,900): Needs 25.3 fantasy points. Smith Jr. returned to the lineup and had 31.6 fantasy points against the Clippers on Jan. 22. I still don’t know what to make of him because the fit with Luka hasn’t been there and the Mavericks could give him the Nerlens Noel treatment where he just doesn’t play for no real reason. But the matchup is good and he obviously has something to prove. Diagnosis: Inconsistent but a high ceiling.

DJ Augustin (vs WAS – $4,900): Needs 21 fantasy points. Augustin was up to 35.6 fantasy points against the Nets on Jan. 23. He’s been fairly reliable during the last couple of weeks for the Magic and now he gets the Wizards on a back-to-back. This should be a strong night for Augustin as he does a bit of everything. Diagnosis: Fairly reliable with a good ceiling.
