LaMarcus Aldridge (vs WAS – $8,400): Needs 36.2 fantasy points. If DeRozan is out of the lineup once again, you can keep taking Aldridge with confidence. And if Gay ends up being out of the lineup in this one then it’s going to be the Aldridge we saw for most of last season, which was a scary player with his ability to get points and rebounds. The matchup is good as the Wizards don’t offer much in their frontcourt. Diagnosis: Very reliable with a high ceiling.
Serge Ibaka (at DAL – $6,800): Needs 29.3 fantasy points. I don’t know how Ibaka is at a higher salary than Siakam given how the two have played this season. Ibaka has shown a high ceiling but he’s not nearly as reliable. The matchup is good for him in this one because the Mavericks aren’t great, although they are better at home. I don’t love him but he should be good enough to at least get value in this one. Diagnosis: Reliable with a decent ceiling.
Aaron Gordon (at HOU – $6,700): Needs 28.9 fantasy points. Gordon’s game is inconsistent but he was up to 44.2 fantasy points against the Wizards on Jan. 25 and had 42.1 fantasy points against the Rockets on Jan. 13. It’ll be a tougher matchup with Faried now in the lineup for the Rockets and Paul possibly back. But they did have Capela when they met earlier this month. Diagnosis: Inconsistent but a good ceiling.
