The Denver Broncos looked to be making a run towards the playoffs in the second half of the 2018 NFL season, but then suddenly took their foot off the gas pedal. They ended up trading away star wide receiver Demaryius Thomas at the trade deadline, and when all was said and done, they finished the year by earning a top-10 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

This is not the way the season was supposed to go, as they spent big money to bring Case Keenum in to be their starting quarterback after he led the Minnesota Vikings to the NFC title game the year before. Instead, they struggled to play consistent football all season long, but there are some building blocks in place for the future.

Rookies like running back Phillip Lindsay, wide receiver Courtland Sutton, and edge rusher Bradley Chubb all played well in year one, and the Broncos have to be happy with what they have there. In the 2019 NFL Draft,  they should look to add another star to the defensive side of the ball, and Devin White from LSU would be a quality pick at No. 10 overall.

After the 2018 season, the team decided to make a change at head coach, bringing in former Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. This is a guy who knows how to get the best out of his defense, and with a solid secondary, and special players like White, Chubb, and Von Miller on that side of the ball, this Broncos team should  be vastly improved on defense in 2019.
