Linebacker. Alabama. Mack Wilson. 27. player. 28.

With their third and final selection in the first round, the Oakland Raiders should stay on the defensive side of the ball, as they need help on all three levels of their defense. Last season, the Raiders had one of the weaker defense of units in all of football, and that led to them winning only four games in a very tough AFC West division.

During the 2017 season, NaVorro Bowman came over to the Raiders and brought stability to the middle linebacker position. Unfortunately, the team could not come to terms with him this past off-season, and they had to roll with players in the middle of their defense that should not be starting at the NFL level yet.

With the No. 27 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Raiders should look to bring in Mack Wilson from Alabama, who has the ability to start in the middle on this defense right away. Defensive coordinator Paul Guenther would love to have a player of Wilson’s skill set in the middle of his defense, and he could be available this late in round one.

The Raiders are a team that have a lot of holes to fill as they enter the off-season, but they do have six of the first 100 selections in the 2019 NFL Draft, and a ton of cap space. They have the ability to really turn around this roster around this off-season, but it will take new general manager Mike Mayock pushing all the right buttons during the 2019 NFL Draft if they’re going to get that process started.
