2019 NFL mock draft: Quinnen Williams goes No. 1 overall
By Brad Weiss
The New York Jets have a lot of issues with their roster moving forward, but they were able to fill their biggest hole during the 2018 NFL Draft. Holding this same No. 3 overall pick, the Jets selected USC quarterback Sam Darnold, who many felt was the best quarterback in the draft class, and showed signs of greatness as a rookie this past season.
While the Jets managed to win only four games, the future is bright with Darnold under center, and now the team has to go out and get more talented pieces for both sides of the football. Not only do they need help up front on offense, but also at all three levels of their defense, including bringing in an elite edge rusher.
During his time at Kentucky, Josh Allen established himself as one of the premier football players in the country, and ended his college career on a high note by racking up three sacks against a very good Penn State offensive line. While the Jets need to bring in players to protect Darnold on the offensive side of the ball, the defense also has to be better if this team is going to do anything next season.
Allen is a guy who can not only play outside linebacker, but line up as a defensive end, filling two big needs for this Jets team. Darnold is going to improve year over year, especially with Adam Gase at head coach, as he has been known to do wonders with the quarterbacks. Allen is too good to pass up at No. 3.
