2019 NFL mock draft: Quinnen Williams goes No. 1 overall
By Brad Weiss
Last season, the Jacksonville Jaguars were one of the best teams in the AFC, steamrolling their way to the playoffs, and making it all the way to the AFC Championship Game. In fact, they looked to be punching their ticket to the Super Bowl, holding a ten-point lead in the fourth quarter against the New England Patriots, that they eventually blew.
Still, they came into this year as a favorite to make another deep run in the playoffs, despite the fact they had a relatively uncertain situation at quarterback. While Blake Bortles was the man to lead the Jaguars into the playoffs in 2017, he struggled mightily under center in 2018, and is likely done in Jacksonville.
That means the Jags will be in the market for a quarterback, and could have their eyes set on the 2018 Heisman Trophy winner, Kyler Murray. Despite guaranteed money from the Oakland Athletics to play baseball, Murray is going to make himself eligible for the 2019 NFL Draft, and could be a first round pick.
Jacksonville certainly needs an answer at quarterback, and while Murray is short by NFL standards, he does so many things well on the football field. Is he a top-10 NFL pick? Only time will tell, but the Jaguars have to do something to fill this void this offseason, and if Murray is sitting there at No. 7, you have to wonder whether or not they roll the dice on a player who has an incredible skill set.
