It was a weird year for tight ends in the NFL in 2018.

Rob Gronkowski appeared to be a shell of his former self and despite excellent years from Travis Kelce, Zach Ertz and George Kittle, it seemed the position was extremely volatile for most teams on a week-to-week basis.

There’s no doubt that a dynamic tight end can change the entire look of an offense and this year, Iowa’s T.J. Hockenson could very well be that player.

Hockenson and fellow Hawkeye Noah Fant (another intriguing tight end prospect) split duty over the last two seasons but there’s no doubt that Hockenson is the most well-rounded prospect of the pair.

His ideal size (6-foot-5, 250 pounds) and ability to stretch the field vertically, as well his tenacity as a blocker, make him the type of prospect who could be primed for an excellent rookie season in the right offense.

Versatility is the name of the game in the NFL these days and Hockenson is exactly that type of do-it-all player who could become an immediate offensive weapon.
