NFL Draft 2019: Top 32 prospects – Post-Senior Bowl edition
By Conor Dorney
Another player, like LSU’s Devin White, with immense upside, is Michigan’s, Rashan Gary.
Gary came to Ann Arbor as a much-heralded five-star recruit and the nation’s top overall recruit but didn’t leave campus with the level of production that some seemed to expect.
He has all the size (6-foot-4, 281 pounds) to make him a dynamic three-tech prospect and shows an ability to rush the passer from both the inside and the edge. A shoulder injury in 2018 will raise some questions going forward, but as long as his medicals check out, there will be plenty of teams interested in Gary to bolster their pass rush.
Gary’s inconsistency as a player and lack of truly refined technical skills are his biggest red flags and there will be a lot of work needed to turn him into the player he’s capable of being. If he lands in the right system on a team is patient with his development, however, he could very well wind up as one of the steals of the first round come April.
