There aren’t too many more appropriate names for a ball-hawking defensive back than “Greedy,” and LSU’s Greedy Williams could take his place as a first-round pick on draft day if all goes according to plan.

Williams has been on the first-round radar since his breakout redshirt freshman season in 2017 but had a down year as far as most are concerned. Williams saw his interception total dip to two from six the year prior, and some felt his decision to sit out his team’s bowl game against UCF didn’t sit right with his teammates in a depleted Tigers secondary.

Regardless of how you feel about Williams now, he’s now coming up on some of the most important parts of the draft process. He has the size and length that teams love, but how explosive of an athlete he is will determine how early he hears his name called.

Williams’ ability to generate turnovers is going to be the biggest aspect of his future success in the NFL and if a team feels he’s capable of repeating the success of his freshman campaign, there’s no doubt that he will end up as a first round selection.
