Finding a true shutdown cornerback can turn a defense around in a hurry and in the 2019 class, that corner is none other than Clemson’s Trayvon Mullen.

Mullen (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) checks all of the size and length boxes that you expect from an excellent press corner in today’s NFL game. While he didn’t see too much in the way of production during his time with the Tigers, it’s hard to fault offenses from staying away from his side of the field.

Mullen has excellent footwork and physicality and is able to use his length to disrupt the routes of opposing wideouts. And while opposing quarterbacks may not throw in his direction too often, he makes the most of the opportunity he does have and can capitalize with outstanding ball skills and recognition to time disruption at the catch point.

The testing part of the pre-draft process will be essential for vaulting Mullen into the first-round discussion but if all goes according to plan, I think his upside is some of the most impressive of any defensive back in this class.
