17. Seth Meyers, Northwestern Wildcats

When you think about Seth Meyers, you often associate the comedian with being on the East Coast. He films his late night show in New York, which is also where he made his bones as a comedian on Saturday Night Live previously. Even before that, Meyers actually grew up in New Hampshire, so he’s been up in the northeast part of the United States for some times. But that’s not where his college football fandom lies.

Meyers was actually born in Evanston, IL, which happens to be the home of the Northwestern Wildcats. Thus, his family always had a tie to the school because of that, which is perhaps a reason that the comedian attended college at Northwestern in the 1990s.

Perhaps the Wildcats’ surprise run to the Rose Bowl in 1995 helped really spawn Meyers’ fandom of the football team since he was attending the school at the time, but he’s stuck by his team through thick and thin since. He maintains strong ties to the school as a whole, delivering the commencement address a few years ago at Northwestern, and continues to show his support of the football team. And to be clear, that’s not always been easy as they’ve had their low points throughout the years.

Of course, Meyers had plenty to cheer about this past season as the Wildcats made a shocking run to make it into the Big Ten Championship Game. They were handled easily by Ohio State, but the comedian and late-night TV host was certainly all in on the success his team enjoyed.
