9. Kenny Chesney, Tennessee Volunteers

As a country music star, there’s no doubt that Kenny Chesney has tried to endear himself with as many southerners as humanly possible, which makes sense for his marketability. In the process, though, he’s become the subject of many jokes regarding his college football fandom because he seemingly has some ties to just about every team that’s in the vaunted SEC. While that may be true, he’s still singing “Rocky Top” when it comes down to where his heart truly lies in this regard.

A native of Knoxville, the city that plays home to the University of Tennessee, Chesney has long been a big fan of the Volunteers and has put that on display on a number of occasions. Whenever College GameDay heads to Neyland Stadium, there’s a good chance that the country star is going to be the guest picker blessing the ESPN broadcast with his presence.

Furthermore, Chesney has a breadth of knowledge regarding the Vols as he’s even worked on an ESPN documentary regarding Tennessee football, specifically Condredge Holloway, the first African-American quarterback to start for the Volunteers. That’s a pretty cool wrinkle to his fandom.

Many diehard Vols fans aren’t happy with Chesney as he’s been a little quite in recent years while the team has struggled. Even still, he’s made it clear where his loyalties lie.
