FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup – February 1, 2019
High Salary PG
Players costing over $6,667
Russell Westbrook (at MIA – $11,600): Needs 50.1 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 58.8 fantasy points against Orlando. You know what you’re getting from Russell Westbrook. Numbers are never an issue and the Thunder is playing great basketball right now. Meanwhile, the Heat are in a slump. Which probably means the script will be flipped in this one. The NBA is just the strangest league where superstars can “hint” at wanting a trade and then be traded 10 minutes later. Anyway, Westbrook is always good for a big game. Diagnosis: Very reliable with a high ceiling.
Kemba Walker (vs MEM – $8,600): Needs 37.1 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 30.2 fantasy points against Boston. Kemba has been cold and Kyrie is back in the lineup. I still like Kyrie but that salary is way too high for a guy who may only play 25 minutes in a blowout. And the Celtics are well-rounded enough to where they may be able to give Kyrie some rest. Kemba had 45.9 fantasy points against the Grizzlies on Jan. 23 if you’re looking for confidence during this slump. Diagnosis: Fairly reliable with a good ceiling.
Trae Young (at UTA – $7,300): Needs 31.5 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 34.2 fantasy points against Sacramento. Young has been playing great but this is a tough matchup. The Jazz are good at home and they won’t be happy after getting drubbed by the Blazers. But Young gets the minutes and opportunities to give you at least value in this game and I’m not enamored with the point guards. Rozier is too high of a salary with Kyrie back. Conley and Paul are more reliable if they play. Diagnosis: Reliable with a decent ceiling.
