25 best award show hosts

3. Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh
Show: 76th Annual Golden Globes (2019)
Memorable Moments: You know, you present together at the Emmys once and the next thing you know, you’re hosting the Golden Globes. Oftentimes, a pair of celebrities will present at an award show and have unprecedented chemistry. That’s what happened with Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh. (See, all of our “They should host the [insert award show]!” tweets work!) The Golden Globe winners kept the ceremony rather tame with an opening monologue that reverse-roasted the attendees and took a somber and meaningful turn regarding equality.
Public Reception: While the writing could have used some fine tuning, Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh were met with positive marks from viewers and critics. Individually, they are each highly regarded actors and personalities. It’s a no brainer that together that would unearth some sort of unprecedented bond. With any luck, the pair will return to host next year, and Oh might pop up in a guest starring role on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Oh, we can dream big.
Why They’re One of the Best: It’s always the unlikely duos that reign supreme. Who would have thought that Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh’s paths would cross like this? But we’re so thankful that they did. Taking on the Golden Globes requires precision, and they brought it. They referenced Ricky Gervais, knew when to let the presenters steal the show, and inspired some legacy-making moments. More than anything, Samberg and Oh looked like they were having fun, which is more than we can say for some other award show hosts throughout the years.
