The Houston Texans were one of the hottest teams in the NFL for most of the season, as they incredibly reeled off nine straight victories. During the 2017 NFL draft, the team traded up to draft Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson, and he has proven himself to be one of the better young signal-callers in all of football.

Looking ahead, the Texans should once again be one of the better teams in the AFC next season, as they have young talent on both sides of the ball. While they ended up losing their Wild Card round game at home to divisional foe Indianapolis, they do have a lot to look forward to, as Watson should still continue to develop as an NFL quarterback.

Unfortunately, the talent in front of Watson on the offensive line in Houston is not very good, and that is an area they should look to target in the 2019 NFL Draft. One player who has enough talent to start right away along this Houston offensive line is Oklahoma offensive guard Cody Ford, who is one of the best overall offense of linemen in this draft class.

If the Texans want to take the next step forward and actually be a Super Bowl contender in the AFC, they have to minimize the damage that Watson takes during a game. He does try to make moves with his legs, and that will lead to more hits, but the offensive line needs to be better at protecting him when he does stand in the pocket.
