Los Angeles Rams-Sign S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix

After franchise tagging him a year go, the Rams may lose free safety Lamarcus Joyner to free agency. Without looking it’s easy to think they’re in cap trouble after their significant moves last offseason, but they have just over $36 million available right now and there’s room to make moves.

Clinton-Dix split the 2018 season between the Green Bay Packers and Washington Redskins, after a trade at the October deadline, and he finished with 93 total tackles, three interceptions and two forced fumbles. He has gotten consistent high marks for his prowess in coverage, and Pro Football Focus ranked him 14th among safeties for this past season.

Clinton-Dix is versatile and productive, which carries clear value in today’s NFL a defenses try to counteract the infusion of college concepts on offense. He’s also firmly in his prime (26 years old),  with zero missed games in his career, and may be able to get a nice multi-year deal.

But if the safety market is slow again this year, this side for Earl Thomas anyway, Clinton-Dix’s price may drop and the Rams should be among the teams ready to swoop in as they look to keep this past season’s’ momentum going.
