9. Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts exceeded expectations in 2018, and despite losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round of the playoffs, it should leave Colts fans with a feeling of confidence that their team will be right back in the thick of things in 2019.

In fact, things are looking brighter in Indianapolis right now then they have in quite some time. Obviously, when Peyton Manning was in his prime and doing his thing annually at the RCA Dome, the Colts were Super Bowl contenders every single year. Their offense often dominated the NFL, but the defense was almost always called into question.

Not much has changed in the era of Lucas Oil Stadium, and Andrew Luck. He has always been a solid NFL quarterback, but the Colts have often failed because of poor defense or a poor offensive line. Heck, getting little to no protection is the biggest reason why Luck missed all of last year with injuries.

Heading into the 2019 season, things finally appear to be clicking in Indianapolis. Luck is back, he’s healthy, and he looks just as good as ever. The Colts have a dangerous run game with Marlon Mack’s breakout season this year, and T.Y. Hilton has always been, and will always be, one of the better receiving threats in the league.

Additionally, Indy has made improvements to its defense and it’s O-line, and because of it, Luck thrived this year as he led the Colts back to the playoffs and a win in the Wild Card round in Houston.

The Colts appear to be in good hands under Frank Reich, who will head into his second season as head coach, and they might just be the favorites to win the AFC South next season — and could have a realistic shot at a trip to Miami next February.
