This past season, the Ravens’ defense led the NFL in fewest yards allowed per game – a big improvement from the previous season (12th in the league). The latter relied on takeaways and forced an NFL-best 34 turnovers. In ’18, John Harbaugh’s team got half as many (17). The unit is a nice mix of youth and experience, with longtime veterans such as Terrell Suggs and safeties Tony Jefferson and Eric Weddle.

When it comes to the latter, there have been questions by some regarding his future with the team. Will he be back in 2019? “Obviously, decisions have to be made for the future of the team, the organization, said the 12-year pro to Aaron Kasinitz of PennLive.com in late January. “They got to do what’s best for them, and I respect that,” Weddle said. “I’ve had an unbelievable experience here and loved every second. So if it does happen, we both move on and then … we’ll see if I’ll play somewhere else or hang ‘em up.”

Obviously, the team could increase their cap space by releasing both Weddle and Jefferson (via Spotrac). The team has added safeties Chuck Clark (2017) and DeShon Elliott (2018) in the last two drafts. But well-traveled Tre’ Boston is an intriguing option should the Ravens opt to go in that direction. The five-year pro has played for three different teams (Panthers, Chargers and Cardinals), has 11 career interceptions and has lined up at both strong and free safety.
