Baltimore Ravens free agency 2019: Top 5 targets
1. G John Miller (Buffalo Bills)
Food for thought? Last month, the Baltimore Ravens decided to promote assistant head coach/tight end coach Greg Roman to offensive coordinator. It’s a move that makes a lot of sense if you watched the team the second half of the season.
“Increasing Greg’s responsibilities will help us get where we’re going on offense,” explained head coach John Harbaugh to Clifton Brown of BaltimoreRavens.com in mid-January. “His role with our offense has already been significant and substantial. His understanding of the run game we are building – which we saw some of in the second half of the season – and how it integrates with a consistent and big-play passing game is exciting.”
Only the Seattle Seahawks finished with more rushing yards than the Ravens in 2018. But a closer look shows how the offense was revamped once quarterback Lamar Jackson, Baltimore’s running game and offense shifted in a different direction. In their last seven regular-season contests, the Ravens rolled up an amazing 1,607 yards on the ground – a stunning 229.8 yards per game.
The team’s offensive front is led by three-year left tackle Ronnie Stanley, a first-round pick in 2016. Left guard Alex Lewis started 10 game in ’18 after missing all of the previous season. The club had a rookie right tackle in Orlando Brown, a third-round selection a year ago. Former right guard Matt Skura started 16 games at center this past season.

And then there’s 12-year pro Marshal Yanda, who missed 14 games in ’17 but bounced back and was named to his seventh Pro Bowl this past year. He does carry a heavy cap number ($10.125 million, via Spotrac) but can you really part with such a player? Due to his days in Orchard Park, Roman is very familiar with Buffalo Bills’ guard John Miller, who may be available come March 13. The 2015 third-round pick could be an option inside and perhaps someone who could push Lewis on the left side.
