High Value PG

Players costing $6,250 or under

Dennis Smith Jr (vs DET – $5,700): Needs 26.8 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 23.75 fantasy points against Memphis. DSJ made his Knicks debuts and while it wasn’t a huge game, it was a good first step. Now that he has a game under his belt and some practice time, expect him to be better. He’ll get every opportunity to succeed and he’s a guy who relishes being in New York. Plus the Pistons are on a back-to-back. Diagnosis: Reliable with a high ceiling

Jerryd Bayless (at MEM – $5,400): Needs 25.1 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 35.75 fantasy points against Denver. Is Bayless still the only serviceable point guard on the roster? Yes? Alright, then you can take him with confidence. The Grizzlies can muck things up but the Timberwolves are a fairly decent team and Bayless has been delivering throughout his time in the starting lineup. It’s quite amazing that his salary remains at this level given his production. Diagnosis: Very reliable with a good ceiling.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (at CHA – $4,400): Needs 20.5 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 35.25 fantasy points against Toronto. SAG has been playing well in the last couple of games and maybe he’s gone over his rookie wall and has found his footing again. He still plays solid minutes and he’s a guy who has a penchant for making plays. The matchup is a good one and he had 27.75 fantasy points against the Hornets on Jan. 8. Diagnosis: Reliable with a high ceiling.
