National Signing Day 2019: The most important recruit for every Top 25 team
5. Ohio State: Zach Harrison, DE
Harrison (Olentangy, OH) stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 235 pounds, making him the perfect size for a defensive end. What makes him really stand out though, is his insane athleticism. Harrison was an All-State track star in the 100-meter dash and played outside receiver for Olentangy. Nick Bosa’s gone for the NFL, and Harrison will be a nice complement to rising pass-rusher Chase Young. The Buckeye defense, which took a big step back last season, looks to re-establish themselves as one of the best in the nation.
4. Texas: Bru McCoy, ATH
The ninth-ranked recruit in the nation was originally headed to USC to play in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense but left for Texas once Kingsbury headed to the Arizona Cardinals. He is the Longhorn’s top recruit for the 2019 class. McCoy (Santa Ana, CA) proved to be a sharp route-runner and versatile athlete with blazing speed. Expected to be a slot/R-receiver in Austin, McCoy could really make a difference early. With the ball in his hands, McCoy is a dangerous player and will be added as another weapon for Ehlinger in 2019.
3. Georgia: Nolan Smith, DE
Smith (IMG Academy, FL) is the top recruit in the nation at any position. The number-one recruit is a prized possession, with names like Trevor Lawrence, Rashan Gary, and Leonard Fournette highlighting that coveted number-one spot. Smith will be added to a notorious Bulldog defense that led them to a top-five ranking the past two years and led them to the 2018 National Championship Game.
2. Alabama: Trey Sanders, RB
IMG Academy is known for pumping out elite recruits, but this is just ridiculous. Sanders is the entire package: a powerful north-south runner with blinding speed and great vision. The sixth-ranked recruit goes to Tuscaloosa to continue the tradition of great backs under coach Saban. When his career with the Tide is over, expect Sanders’ name to be synonymous with Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson, and Derek Henry.
1. Clemson: Tyler Davis, DT
Clemson did everything right in 2018: undefeated season, dozens of convincing wins, including walking all over Notre Dame and Alabama in the Playoff. With a legendary quarterback at the helm and a myriad of returning offensive starters, how can the Tigers improve? By signing four-star Davis (Apopka, FL), who will look to step in voids left by Dexter Lawrence and Christian Wilkins as they head for the draft. Get comfortable, Clemson will be dominant for a long time.
