Jarrett Hurd vs Jaime Mungia

This is the most actioned packed fight on the list, and would likely win fight of the year if it were made. Both Hurd and Mungia are come-forward fighters who love to let their hands go, and neither of them are known for their defense.

Hurd is at the top of the junior middleweight rankings, and the more established of the two. He is huge for the division, and it is incredible how he is able to make weight each fight. A move to middleweight figures to be in his future, but there are a couple of easy to make fights in the division with fellow PBC fighters, including a rematch with now-champion Tony Harrison, a fight which would unify three of the four belts in the division.

Mungia, on the other hand, is only 22 years old, and jumped onto the scene last year. He was a candidate to fight Gennady Golovkin in May as a replacement for Canelo, but the Nevada State Athletic Commission thankfully blocked the fight from happening.

Instead of getting demolished by GGG and setting back his career, Mungia was able to become the WBO junior-middleweight champion. Wins over Sadam Ali (I know there was a huge size difference) and Liam Smith are very solid for someone as young as Mungia.

There are rumors that he plans to move to middleweight soon, which would be wise given the wealth of talent signed with DAZN at middleweight, but I hope he waits it out just a little longer.

A unification match with Hurd would be an all-action fight that doesn’t happen too often, and it would be a treat for boxing fans to see.
