D’haquille “Duke” Williams, wide receiver

Former Team: Edmonton Eskimos
New Team: Buffalo Bills

The primary offseason focus for the Buffalo Bills will be to improve the skill players around second-year quarterback Josh Allen in hopes of helping him grow into a franchise face. While further money will be spent in free agency and selections will be used in the draft, the Bills front office has already landed an exciting young player in former Edmonton Eskimos wideout Duke Williams.

Williams background is quite sketchy as he was twice suspended and then ultimately kicked out of the football program at Auburn. However, he’s rehabbed his image and shown incredible production up north. Last year, he caught 88 passes for Edmonton for 11 touchdowns and led the entire CFL in receiving yards with 1,579.

Davis Sanchez says: He’s an interesting story who’s an SEC guy originally who had some real troubles in school. But he’s a big body at 6-foot-3, 230 pounds. who can run and is agile enough to get in and out of breaks.

As a former defensive back, I can tell you I’ve watched him carefully a lot and he’s a special guy. You see guys his size who can run, but you don’t see guys his size who can run and get in and out of their breaks. He’s special if he can keep his head on straight.

He’s super-competitive and I think that’s what gets him in trouble. He can get too fiery at times. But if he can keep his head on straight, he will not only make that team in Buffalo but he’s a guy who can have an impact as a No. 2 or No. 3 guy for sure.
