Round 3 – Pick 78

Chris Lindstrom, G, Boston College

Miami is currently slotted to have six offensive lineman hit free agency. For a team that struggled up front that is not a good sign. The only player that will surely be back is starting right tackle Ju’Wuan James. He and Laremy Tunsil are the book-ends of the line. It is in the middle where this team needs to fill some holes. Josh Sitton should return from injury and man one spot. Miami would be wise to spend some money grabbing a center as well in free agency.

Boston College’s Chris Lindstrom is the type of guy to fill the other spot. Despite carrying a high-end starters grade, Lindstrom is a product of a position that is not highly valued in the NFL. Though last year’s sixth overall pick Quenton Nelson would disagree. Lindstrom is another Flores type player that would immediately help Miami protect their new rookie quarterback.

Lindstrom comes from a pro-style offense where he paved the way to a successful running back every year of his career. He has experience playing tackle, where he gets a bit exposed due to his short arms which makes him best served inside. Once inside Lindstrom wins in pass sets with violent hands and quick choppy feat. There are few one on one reps where he gets beat clean. Lindstrom also helps in the run game where those hands come back into play combined with excellent leverage to get in front of players.

Miami’s holes all over the field allow them to pick the best player when it is their time. For this scenario there was no better player than Lindstrom. It would not surprise me to see him sneak into the first round come April.
