2019 NFL Draft: Baltimore Ravens 7-round mock
By Joe Romano
Round 3 – Pick 102
Dru Samia, G, Oklahoma
An area of seeming strength for Baltimore was the offensive line. The team has a pair of young, talented tackles to book-end the offensive line. Ronnie Stanley and Orlando Brown give Baltimore optimism up-front. On the interior they are joined by veteran Marshall Yanda, who’s entering his 12th season in the NFL. After that hte talent fall-off is significant. Anyone in Baltimore will tell you upgrading the interior offensive line is a priority.
Why not do that with Brown’s former teammate, Dru Samia. Samia is a stout, albeit short, guard who can provide the athleticism to work in the complex run-schemes the Ravens will likely employ. Depsite his stature, Samie counters it with exceptional movement skills. He’s got a quick set of feet that he’s able to keep under his base in pulling and movement blocks. There will be times where he beats his own teammates around the edge into pulling situations.
Where he needs to get better is in some play strength and being able to keep a good punch. Samia would couple well with Yanda to give Baltimore four lineman to support developing center, Matt Skura. The Ravens were at their best running the ball and Samia helps them continue that plan of attack while not being a liability in pass protection.
Yanda is aging. Book end young tackles in Brown and Stanley. Need help in the middle to keep Jackson clean. Were best running team in the NFL with Jackson at the helm. This helps keep that offense going while giving them a young trio to keep Jackson clean as he grows into a better passer.
