2019 NFL mock draft: Kyler Murray heads to Jaguars
By Brad Weiss
The Buffalo Bills made it to the playoffs following the 2017 NFL season for the first time since 1999, ending quite a run of disappointing football. With a rookie head coach in Sean McDermott at the helm, the Bills looked like they may become a perennial playoff team moving forward, but they took a step back during the 2018 campaign.
One of the bigger issues with the team last season was that they were rolling with a rookie quarterback, as Josh Allen took over as the franchise signal-caller in Buffalo. Towards the end of the NFL season, Allen showed that he has what it takes to be a solid player at the NFL level, and it will be up to the organization to start to put the right pieces around him.
With the No. 9 overall selection this April, the Bills may want to invest in their offensive line, and Jawaan Taylor from Florida is one of the better offensive tackles in this draft class. The main goal of this organization moving forward has to be protecting Allen, who missed time as a rookie due to injury, and takes way too many hits.
Of course, when a team plays as bad as the Bills did last season, there are going to be a lot of holes to fill on the roster. However, if you have made the decision that you have your franchise quarterback in place, it makes sense to protect him and utilize any asset you have in order to do so.
