3. Indianapolis Colts

Andrew Luck came back healthy, the offensive line was great, and a mid-season win streak helped make the 2018 season a successful one for the bounce back Indianapolis Colts. The team surprised many, as they went 10-6 on their way to a playoff berth.

Of course, the Colts didn’t last too long in the playoffs. But they did do better than expected as they beat the Houston Texans Wild Card weekend, only to lose to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional round. Regardless, the Colts had a great season, but their defense needs some work.

While they don’t really have a big hole on the defensive end, they are one big-time pass rusher away from checking most of the boxes. You may be thinking that the team needs a lockdown cornerback, but that’s not entirely true.

The Colts only mustered up 38 sacks as a team, and Denico Autry led the team with nine. Translation: The Colts need a better pass rush to limit the time opposing quarterbacks have to throw.

2018 AP Defensive Rookie of the Year, Darius Leonard, was the biggest bright spot on the defensive end. While he will continue to progress, the Colts should sign Lawrence to strengthen their edge rush.

The Colts and defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus could add Lawrence to his dynamic scheme and create a formidable defensive line with him, Autry and Jabaal Sheard.  Also, the Colts have the most available cap space in the NFL right now, so Lawrence to Indy isn’t a long shot.
