2. Kareem Jackson

The Eagles secondary was an absolute mess last season. The deadly combination of injuries and inconsistency allowed Philadelphia to be thrown upon at will. Whether it’s through the draft or free agency, the team must strengthen its options at cornerback heading into next season.

The current group of corners in Philadelphia is full of players who can flash Pro Bowl caliber skills, but struggle to play steady football through an entire game. That’s why we’re suggesting they target Jackson. He doesn’t make a ton of stellar plays at this point in his career, but he’s one of the most steady corners in the NFL.

The Texans don’t want to lose him, but keeping Clowney is going to be expensive. The Eagles should try to pounce on Jackson early in the free agency period to see if they can steal a march on Houston. Adding Jackson in to serve as one of their starters on the outside might make the rest of the guys in the secondary look a lot more competent after moving down a slot in the pecking order.

Jackson wouldn’t be a cheap acquisition for Philadelphia, but fixing the secondary should be their top priority. If they don’t draft a corner in the first or second round, they’ll need to spend big on Jackson, or someone like him, to help them improve their pass defense in 2019.
