A young Maple Leafs fan had a sign showing her affinity for Mitch Marner on Valentine’s night, and he delivered with a lasting memory for her.

Valentine’s Day is mostly a commercialized celebration of love, created by Hallmark and floral shops. Sports love is measured differently, as fans show affinity for their favorite players and teams. But for one young Toronto Maple Leafs’ fan, Mitch Marner delivered a great Valentine’s memory.

Before the game against the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday night, on the road no less, a young Maple Leafs fan with seats against the class had a hopeful sign saying “Hey Mitch!, Be My Valentine?!.”

Marner spotted her (as if he could have missed the sign, right?), skated over, and the girl’s face says it all, showing her excitement to be in so close to the object of her ‘”affection”. Marner flipped her a puck over the glass as a souvenir, then went a little further to pose for a selfie. It was a Valentine’s Day dream come true for the girl, to be sure.

Marner is hopefully a one-woman man, but he still humorously tweeted an apology to his girlfriend after the moment with the young fan.

Marner went on to score a goal and tally an assist in Toronto’s 6-3 victory Thursday night, as Auston Matthews notably scored his 100th career goal as well. So it was a good result for anyone in T-Mobile Arena rooting for the Maple Leafs.

But for one special fan, without knowing how the game would turn out at that point, a moment with Marner will be one she’ll definitely never forget for any and every Valentine’s Day to come. Best of luck living up to that for anyone she dates in the future.
