4. Jason McCourty, New England Patriots

It may be hard to imagine that Jason McCourty walks away from the New England Patriots in the offseason. He went from losing every game with the Cleveland Browns in 2017, to winning the Super Bowl next to his brother with the New England Patriots in 2018.

Still, McCourty will receive calls from other teams in free agency. At 31-years old, he is a veteran corner who can still keep up with some of the game’s best.

This past season, the 10-year pro out of Rutgers had one interception in 16 games played for Bill Belichick. Pro Football Focus gave him a defense rank of 82.3, which ranked him as the sixth best corner in the NFL.

Of course, it helps when you’re playing on the opposite side of an All Pro cornerback like Setphon Gilmore. Nevertheless, McCourty held his own on his side of the field, often playing on either the left and ride side.

McCourty’s experience, versatility and leadership will attract many teams in need of a second corner. Although, there may be some ‘buyer beware’ when it comes to discussing contract terms with an older player coming off highly-rated year.

Retirement has also been a topic of discussion for both of the McCourty twins. Although, there doesn’t seem to be any clarity surrounding a potential decision by either player.
