1. Ronald Darby, Philadelphia Eagles

There seems to be a strong indication that Ronald Darby is the top cornerback in this free agent class, and the corner that will essentially set the market for the position this offseason.

This is fair, as Darby is a good, young player. However, he has always left more to be desired. He has performed well as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles when healthy, but health has been an issue for him.

Like Verrett, Darby has had to fight through and deal with various injuries throughout his career. But Darby wasn’t bit by the injury bug until he came to the Eagles. from 2015-2016, he was a Buffalo Bill, where he played in 29 games. In the same time spent as an Eagle, he has only played in 17 games.

While Darby’s time has been limited with the Eagles, he has still been productive. In those 17 games played, he has four interceptions and 21 passes defended.

At age 25, Darby has the resume to be the number one cornerback in this free agent class. He holds legitimate potential to be a true, number-one corner in the NFL. Spotrac.com currently has his market value at $13.4 million a year, and he will probably get a four to five year deal with his age.

Darby won’t be 26 until January, so teams don’t have to worry about him aging on them. The only thing general managers will have to hold their breath on is a clean bill of health.
