Round 2 – Pick 51

Michael Deiter, G, Wisconsin

Tennessee offensively has a pair of tackles that they have to be happy with going forward. Center Ben Jones is solid, but could be a cap casualty. Guard Quinton Spain is set to hit free agency. The loss of Spain could force the Titans hand to select an interior offensive lineman early in the draft. After two defensive prospects to start last year’s draft and now Polite in round one, offense needs to be prioritized for this team.

Wisconsin’s Michael Deiter makes a ton of sense for this team to replace Spain at guard. Deiter is an elite interior offensive lineman who is getting lost in a class that could produce starters throughout the first three rounds. Deiter is not the longest player but showcases excellent movement skills for a man his size. Despite that lack of length, his power and anchor are strong enough that he can be left on an island in pass protection. Deiter excelled in space and is a great puller as well.

For an offense like Tennessee that will likely be very multiple and dynamic, Deiter would fit like a glove. The Titans should pounce on the opportunity to get another player to replace someone who could price themselves out of Tennessee’s plans in free agency. Coming from Wisconsin, Deiter will not be afraid to jump right into Tennessee’s “exotic smashmouth” that the team’s touted the past two seasons.
