1. Transition on offense

Early in 2018, rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson made cameos on offense while veteran Joe Flacco remained the starting quarterback. That changed for the final seven games of the regular season and the playoffs as the 11-year pro dealt with a midseason hip injury and eventually, Jackson took over on a permanent basis.

It won’t become official until March 13, but Flacco has been dealt to the Denver Broncos. Jackson is now the starter and head coach John Harbaugh will oversee an attack led by a new offensive coordinator.

“We’re literally redefining everything we do as a staff, as a group,” explained Greg Roman on a team podcast (via Pro Football Talk). “Literally, everything. Every formation, every route, every run, every route concept. How can we make this offense, which up until this point has been good…We’re trying to make it as great as we can be. How can we make it as learnable, as understandable, as streamlined, as efficient (as possible)?”

When it was all said and done this past season, the Ravens finished ninth in the league in total yards per game. Only the Seattle Seahawks ran for more yards while Baltimore ranked 22nd in the NFL in passing yardage. The offense produced 37 touchdowns – 19 on the ground and 18 through the air. With another year of experience, Jackson figures to be a little more effective in the passing game. And this could be a fascinating attack to watch.
