4. Defensive tackle

Jurrell Casey has been one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL since he came into the league in 2011. In that time, he has 46 sacks, 105 quarterback hits and he has been named to the Pro Bowl four consecutive years.

The 29-year-old led the Titans in sacks in 2018 with seven. Other than his consistency from the nose tackle spot, the team hasn’t been able to pair another interior lineman with him.

Bennie Logan was essentially the team’s number-one defensive tackle, but he didn’t see too much action in the Tennessee 3-4 scheme. Of course, you may be thinking, “what’s the point of signing or drafting a defensive tackle to play in a 3-4- that already features Casey inside?”

Fair question, but finding more of a run-stuffing defensive tackle would help both the pass rush and run defense. Last year, the Titans were the 18th-ranked team against the run.

The upcoming draft is loaded with defensive line talent. Since Sheldon Richardson is the only defensive tackle that really pops in free agency, he may be overpriced and it would be wise to look elsewhere.

The Titans hold the 19th-overall pick and using it to address this need should be the favored move. Their position may seem too far down, but they will still have talent to pick from.

While anything can happen on draft day, two names that are likely to be hanging around then are Dre’Mont Jones and Dexter Lawrence. A mid-round prospect to keep an eye on is Isaiah Buggs.
