T.J. Yeldon, RB

Dallas has been the type of team to stay away from big name free agents. They prefer to pay their own players and operate on the fringes of free agency. A position that they could address in that realm is the back-up running back spot. They would be wise to invest in someone that can spell Ezekiel Elliott, or even work with him in a dynamic offense. With Kellen Moore at the helm that is what Cowboys fans are hoping to see.

T.J. Yeldon, a free agent running back from Jacksonville would make a ton of sense. Yeldon is a receiving threat who operated in an archaic offense and did not get to shine as much as he could have. He’s a dynamic receiver and a player who can make things happen with the ball in his hand. Being behind Leonard Fournette has let Yeldon get opportunity but he was handcuffed by the playcalling. He’s only 25 years old and his best football may be in front of him.

Dallas is set to lose back-up running back Rod Smith to free agency. Yeldon would replace Smith and be an upgrade. Both players are dynamic in more than just running the ball and give Dallas options to work with Elliott.

Yeldon is the type of back that could line up in a spread out system with Elliott and Prescott in the backfield and make defenses nervous. He is also capable of lining up out wide and being a passing threat from there. Elliott is one of the best running backs in the league and should be on the field as much as possible. There is still a need at a player to help him out and keep him fresh for a hopeful playoff run.
