5. And what was that, again?

At Elimination Chamber, we were treated to recent NXT call-up Lacey Evans taking a stroll down the ramp and back up again, seemingly for no apparent reason. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer (via Elle Collins at With Spandex), the point was exposure, to get eyes on Evans ahead of what is anticipated to be a big push.

Evans did her up-and-down the ramp thing on Monday night as well, interrupting a Heavy Machinery promo. Heavy Machinery then followed Evans’ lead, walking up and down the ramp themselves (and looking very Bushwhackers-y) and heading with her to the back.

While it certainly provided her exposure — putting anything in front of open eyeballs can technically be called ‘exposure’ — it is still not doing much to give fans a reason to care about Evans. It’s also not doing much to give fans a reason to care about Heavy Machinery, either. Stories are how to get characters to connect and until either Evans or Tucker and Otis have more to them than walking the ramp and yelling, respectively, no one is going to care.
