8. Elias really should have seen this coming

Let’s see: Four NXT Superstars were brought to Raw, whether as a recurring thing or a one-time showcase and, by the time Elias hits the ring and strums his guitar, only Aleister Black has yet to make an appearance. In case the segment wasn’t telegraphed enough simply by doing the math, Elias then proceeds to go on a tirade about Raw not needing new talent, particularly folks of the NXT variety, while also complaining about his weekly songs being constantly interrupted.

Black interrupts, with his banging, creepy entrance and all (again, the live crowd is not moved) and challenges Elias. While Elias gives him a competitive match, something we’ve all forgotten he’s often capable of as he’s been kabonging people with guitars more than he’s been wrestling on TV these days, he’s ultimately put away by Black via Black Mass.

NXT is now 4-0 against Raw competitors on Raw, but we still don’t know if that’s supposed to mean anything and, if it is, what the meaning is. This is a typical problem the WWE has, particularly when it comes to Raw, and last night’s show made that problem its primary source of material. We don’t even quite know why Black, et al., were brought to Raw aside from the typical, sweeping, “The future!” promo Triple H cut to open the show.

Still, though: What exactly did Elias expect?
