9. Ruby Riott gets a rematch

Perhaps as a correction for Ruby Riott being jobbed out to Ronda Rousey in under two minutes at Elimination Chamber (and WWE being soundly called out for it all over social media), Riott was granted a rematch on Raw, also for Rousey’s Women’s Championship. This match was afforded nearly 15 minutes, showcased Riott as a viable title contender and had Rousy retain: All the things that could have been done on Sunday night, especially as the pay-per-view curiously had a shorter run time than usual.

Riott was just a plot device to set up Charlotte Flair confronting Rousey and to draw out Becky Lynch, but we knew that going into Elimination Chamber. How she was treated like an afterthought was unnecessary, essentially serving as a de facto announcement that Riott really isn’t needed to tell the WrestleMania story. But if she wasn’t needed, why have Ronda in a match at all? There are numerous other ways to write that same three-headed confrontation into the night. And if she was needed — Rousey has vowed to be a fighting champion, after all — then who does it help for Riott to tap out after 1:40? It makes no one look good.

Still, some kudos to WWE for understanding that they did Riott dirty on Sunday and trying to make it a little better the following night. They shouldn’t have had to, though, because it was so easy to not screw things up in the first place.
