Jonah Williams. 3. player. 30. . Offensive Tackle. Alabama

The New York Jets were once again one of the worst teams in football in 2018, as they had to make due with a rookie quarterback in Sam Darnold being under center for most of the season. While Darnold is no doubt going to be a solid NFL quarterback moving forward, the first year with a rookie quarterback is always the toughest, and the Jets find themselves holding the No. 3 overall selection for the second year in a row.

Last year, the Jets traded up for the opportunity to draft Darnold at No. 3, as the New York Giants passed on him with the No. 2 overall pick. If the Jets are ever going to take the next step forward, they have to bring in players that are going to protect Darnold in the long run, and Jonah Williams from Alabama is the best offensive tackle in this draft class.

While Williams did not have the best national title game, he is no doubt going to be the top offensive tackle in this draft class, and has the size and strength to stay on the left side. With their franchise quarterback in place, the Jets can add a player to protect his blind side for the next 10 years, protecting the most valuable asset that they have on this roster.

New York will have a new head coach in 2019, as Todd Bowles was replaced with Adam Gase earlier this off-season. Gase is a guy who has done wonders with quarterbacks in his career, and has a tall task ahead of him when it comes to Darnold, but if the Jets can add some solid offensive linemen and a couple of weapons for the young signal-caller, they should be in good hands for the foreseeable future.
