Two of the Big 12’s best square off in Lubbock as Kansas travels to Texas Tech in a battle of top 15 teams.

Both Kansas and Texas Tech will be well rested for this matchup, with each squad having a full week off in advance of this game. Each team also had a very easy home victory last Saturday, so this game features two squads clicking on all cylinders.

The Jayhawks appear to have stabilized things and adjusted to life without Lagerald Vick, picking up a 78-53 win over West Virginia at Allen Fieldhouse for their third straight victory. Five different players recorded at least 10 points for Kansas, with Devon Dotson and K.J. Lawson contributing a team-high 15 each.

Texas Tech has been even hotter than Kansas, ripping off four straight wins, including an 86-61 beatdown of a surging Baylor team last Saturday. Guard Jarrett Culver had his hands all over this win, leading the Red Raiders in points (18), rebounds (8), and assists (4).

The two squads are tied for second place in Big 12 play, entering action with 9-4 conference records, putting them one game behind Kansas State in the standings. The Jayhawks host the Wildcats on Monday,  so a sweep of these two games could put them in position to extend their streak of regular season conference championships to 15.

This is the second meeting of the season between the two schools. Kansas defended its home court back on Feb. 2, defeating the Red Raiders 79-63 at the Phog.

The Jayhawks have done well in Lubbock, winning eight straight years at United Supermarkets Arena, but the last two games have been tight contests. Texas Tech has lost by a combined three points to Kansas at home over the past two years, so they will be looking for a measure of revenge here.
