Round 3 – No Pick

The Giants will lose this pick based on last year’s supplemental draft. It was odd last year to see WMU’s Sam Beal declare for the supplemental draft. It was even more surprising when New York bid a third round pick on the talented cornerback.

Beal is a simliar mold to Mullen. A tall corner at 6-foot-1 he ran a 4.4 forty yard dash at his pro day. There is a ton to like with Beal. He missed last season with an injury but will return to be a part of what is shaping up to be a revamped secondary in New York.

Round 4 – Pick 108

Dru Samia, G, Oklahoma

An area for concern for New York the past few seasons has been their offensive line play. Despite paying Nate Solder the richest tackle contract in history and drafting Will Hernandez n the second round, it was a weak point for their offense. Regardless if Eli Manning or just drafted Dwayne Haskins is back there, the unit will need to be strong in 2019. Both those quarterbacks are traditional pocket players who don’t look to run. The left side is solidified by the aforementioned players. The rest of the group is up for grabs. That is why New York should be looking at this solid interior offensive line class for help.

Dru Samia of Oklahoma is a prospect that makes sense on the top of Round 4. Samia is a bit undersized for a guard, despite being 6-foot-5 and 297 pounds. The four year starter at Oklahoma has been a staple in the Sooners offensive line during their remarkable run the past two years protecting back-to-back Heisman winners. Samia uses great leverage and quick feet to uproot players lined up head to head. He needs to get a bit stronger in the lower half but his technique when moving is fantastic. There are few guards who can move like him to get on the edge or even quick traps.

Samia would make a nice compliment to Hernandez on the other side. He would also open the door for New York to have two cheap interior guards to start for a long time. This is a great grab at a position for desperate need for the Giants.
