High Value PG

Players costing $6,667 or under

Elfrid Payton (vs PHI – $5,700): Needs 25.2 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 37.5 fantasy points against LA Lakers. You never know quite what you’re going to get from Payton but he’s shown a high ceiling and he’s looking relatively healthy following the break. He was good for the Pelicans through stretches this season as they desperately need solid point guard play. And offense has rarely been a problem for him. Diagnosis: Reliable with a high ceiling.

Tyler Johnson (at MIA – $5,600): Needs 24.7 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 50 fantasy points against Atlanta. Johnson has looked good in the two games after the break. Granted, he had two good matchups. But this is a good matchup simply because it’s a revenge game for Johnson. He’ll continue to get the minutes and opportunities because the Suns, like the Pelicans, need anything they can get out of the point guard position. Diagnosis: Very reliable with a high ceiling.

Derrick Rose (vs SAC – $5,500): Needs 24.3 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 29.4 fantasy points against Milwaukee. Rose isn’t playing huge minutes but he’s playing enough minutes and he’s making the most of that playing time. I love this matchup because the Kings are a great matchup for any guard due to the style they play. And Rose has shown that he can still get it done as he’s been very good this season. His minutes limit his ceiling just a bit. Diagnosis: Very reliable with a good ceiling.
