Biggest Disappointment: Kentucky Wildcats

There is no shame in losing a series to the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Texas Tech has become one of the best programs in all of college baseball, so when Kentucky lost their series this weekend, it was not a huge shock.

But when the Kentucky Wildcats were swept this past weekend, it put many of the questions from last season’s team back at the forefront. The Kentucky Wildcats had leads in both the Friday and Saturday games only to give up six-run innings in both contests to lose control of those games. And Sunday, the Red Raiders blew the Wildcats out of the water, 19-4.

The Wildcats missed the postseason in 2018 because they could not consistently win against the tough competition from the rest of the SEC baseball teams. Texas Tech is on par with many of the teams the Wildcats will face during conference play in 2019. If they struggle this badly with the Red Raiders, is there any reason to believe the Wildcats will be able to compete against the rest of the always stout SEC?
