1. Oakland Raiders

There isn’t a team in the NFL that needs more pass rushing help than the Oakland Raiders. With a league low 13 sacks on the season, they need as much help as they can possibly get. For reference, 11 players had 13 or more sacks in 2018. Think about that for a second, 11 individual players had more sacks than a full team over a 17 week course. That is embarrassing.

The next two lowest team totals were 30, held by the New England Patriots and the New York Giants. That is over double the Raiders season total, clearly not a recipe for success. Since the Raiders traded Khalil Mack they have struggled to fill that void. Many think they will address it in the draft, but I don’t think drafting a pass rusher is enough.

Trey Flowers would be perfect for the Raiders defensive front. The Raiders need a three-down defensive end, one that can succeed against the run as well as getting after the quarterback and Flowers is that player. Arden Key, their third round draft pick from last year, is talented, but is a bit of a one trick pony as he only really succeeds with his speed rush and bend.

Flowers would help solidify the defensive line and give the Raiders young core a chance to grow into their own game. As a veteran who still has a lot of good football ahead of him, his prices will obviously be high. Good thing the Raiders have over $70 million in cap space this offseason. They will easily be able to give Flowers the roughly $17 million he will command.

Like Detroit, Oakland cannot guarantee a winning product, but moving to Las Vegas, where there is no income tax, could be enticing to Flowers. The market for Flowers will be vast, and whichever lucky team signs him will be getting a great player for the foreseeable future.
