Round 2: Greg Little

It’s always a good idea to draft a player capable of protecting the franchise quarterback you select. Like Lock, Little isn’t the finished product, but he’s got a chance to grow into an All-Pro at the left tackle position.

Make no mistake, Little is one of the riskiest guys in this draft. He has Pro Bowl talent, but his tape at Ole Miss leaves a lot to be desired. He shows poor technique in a lot of different situations. It’s possible he didn’t get great coaching at the college level, but it’s more likely he’s a slow learner.

Immersing him fully in a professional environment should really accelerate his development. While his technique is poor, his athleticism is elite for the position. He shows tremendous balance when blocking guys on the edge. Remember, he stood up and played well in the SEC despite his questionable technique.

The Broncos have the ability to allow Little to sit and learn from Garrett Bolles for a significant period of time. They could even try to play him at right tackle in 2019 if he plays well in training camp. Fangio understands how important getting pressure on the quarterback is in today’s game. That means he’ll be equally interested in a guy like Little who can negate those edge rushers.
