Bryce Callahan

Bryce Callahan is the best slot cornerback on the market, and he’s coming off an injury-riddled season that will drive down his value.

It is, however, hard to say how much. The Baltimore Ravens just paid Tavon Young more than $25 million on a three-year deal, and when healthy Callahan is a better player. He’s helped solidify a very good Chicago Bears defense that carried the team to the postseason this year. He could look for a similar deal to Young’s, or even look to surpass it. More than $8 million a year could be a hard pill to swallow for the Saints, but to give them the best cornerback trio in the league, it might be worth it.

With Eli Apple and Marshon Lattimore still on rookie deals, the Saints could convince Callahan to take a deal in short-term to prove he can stay healthy on a dominant defense and then cash-in next season. It’s a big ask, but we’ve seen it before.

The Saints’ salary cap issues are real, but they have cuts that could help them to make moves this offseason. The cap is going to be a factor with any move the Saints make, but most teams find ways to make it work. This team will be no different.

If they believe Callahan is the move to push them over the top, the Saints will do what they have to in order to secure the deal.
