2019 NFL mock draft: Quarterbacks go early after trades
By Brad Weiss
The Cincinnati Bengals will have a new head coach in 2019, after a 16-year run with Marvin Lewis at the helm, a run that brought wins, but not a championship. While Lewis won his fair share of games during the regular season, he never got over the hump in the playoffs, winning exactly zero playoff games during his tenure on the sidelines.
In 2019, Zac Taylor will take over for Lewis as the head coach in Cincinnati, after spending last season as the quarterback coach for the Los Angeles Rams. It seems like NFL teams are looking for the next Sean McVay, and in Taylor, the Bengals will have to be patient as he makes his debut as an NFL head coach.
When it comes to the Bengals roster, they have a need at the linebacker position, especially with Vontaze Burfict becoming a possible cap casualty. The best linebacker in this draft class is Devin White from LSU, who is good enough to be a starting middle linebacker in year one, and has that rare ability to play sideline to sideline.
The Bengals have a lot of nice pieces, especially on the offensive side of the ball, but they really need to do something to improve this defense. White makes a lot of sense, because he checks a lot of the boxes you look for in a possible captain of your defense, and Cincinnati needs to bring in good quality guys, especially with a young head coach in place.
